Multi-point testing, batch-level traceability, and in-house laboratory analysis. Quality is not a department β it is the process.
Growing media quality is defined by measurable physical and chemical parameters β not brand names. Our process is designed to produce substrates with consistent, verifiable specifications. We test. We document. We trace.
| Parameter | Method | Target |
|---|---|---|
| Electrical Conductivity (EC) | 1:1.5 extraction method | < 0.5 mS/cm (standard) |
| pH | 1:1.5 extraction method | 5.5 β 6.5 |
| Moisture Content | Oven-dry method | 15-20% (compressed) |
| Expansion Ratio | Volume measurement | 5:1 minimum (5kg blocks) |
| Particle Size Distribution | Sieve analysis | Per product type |
| Water Holding Capacity | Gravimetric method | > 600% by weight |
| Air-Filled Porosity | Volume displacement | 10-30% (varies by blend) |
| Wettability | Re-hydration time test | < 30 min to full saturation |
Electrical conductivity and pH are the two parameters that determine whether a cocopeat substrate will help or harm your crop.
Raw coir pith contains sodium (NaβΊ), potassium (KβΊ), and chloride (Clβ») ions from seawater exposure during coconut processing. Untreated cocopeat can have EC levels of 2.0+ mS/cm β toxic for most crops.
EC consistently below 0.5 mS/cm. pH stabilized at 5.5β6.5. Every batch tested before packaging.
Washing alone does not solve the salt problem. Cocopeat has a high cation exchange capacity (CEC) β it holds onto sodium and potassium ions even after washing. These ions are then slowly released into the root zone during irrigation.
Buffering with calcium nitrate replaces sodium/potassium ions with calcium ions on the coir's exchange sites. This prevents delayed salt release and provides a stable, low-EC growing environment from the first day of use.
Our buffering process is not optional β it is standard on all export-grade cocopeat products.
Every production batch is coded with complete manufacturing data:
This traceability system ensures any quality issue can be traced back to its source β raw material lot, processing stage, and responsible operator.
